Cricket Discussion Can Veer Towards Any Aspect Of The Game By Ella Wilson
Los Angeles Lakers By Rich Stephenson
In the second round of the draft, with picks 40 and 48, the Lakers selected two international players: Sun Yue and Marc Gasol. Hailing from Spain , Marc Gasol enters the NBA in the wake of his famed brother Pau Gasol, of the Memphis Grizzlies. The twenty two year old Marc Gasol is a 7'1" 280lb center who is said to have good footwork and a sof! t touch. Sun Yue has been called the "Chinese Magic Johnson" as a 6'9" point guard with a pass-first mentality that could develop into a valuable NBA commodity for the Lakers.
In a fantastic display of heart and determination Lamar Odom battled through multiple injuries as he finished out the 06-07 season. Having undergone off season surgery, both Odom and Kwame Brown are expected to return for the start of training camp fully recovered and ready to contribute. Lakers veteran Luke Walton will continue to act as a much needed facilitator and master of the triangle offense, resigning with the Lakers on a six year deal reportedly worth 30 million.
Lakers project, Andrew Bynum, having shown flashes of brilliance in his second year, will continue to train with Kareem Abdul Jabbar and attempt to establish himself as a dominant young big man in the Western Conference. The focal point of many trade discussions, Bynum is a sought after young center who has ! shown promise and skill while playing for the Lakers. Enterin! g his th ird year, the Lakers hope Bynum can provide them with a significant low post presence to complement Bryant and Odom.
With no veteran point guard presence, the Lakers will be utilizing newly drafted Javaris Crittenton coupled with former UCLA guard, Jordan Farmar. Farmar, entering his sophomore year, has averaged about 4 points and 2 assists for the Lakers. Praised by Lakers Head Coach Phil Jackson, Farmar will attempt to fill the point guard position with his developed court vision and poised game play.
The Lakers off season woes have left many fans and players hoping for another big name arrival in Los Angeles . Despite the trade drama and the Lakers sub par season record; many feel that a healthy supporting cast comprised of Odom and Walton is enough to help the Lakers make some noise in the post season. In the 2006-2007 season both Odom and Walton were plagued by injuries leaving their true potential a mystery. Prior to the teams injuries the La! kers got off to a 26-13 start, leading many to believe the teams existing roster is more than capable of making a playoff run.
Heading into the 2008 season, the Lakers are looking to strengthen their core around Kobe Bryant, while simultaneously adding some young eager talent in Javaris Crittenton. Operating under Hall of Fame coach, Phil Jackson the Lakers will utilize the triangle in an attempt to get back on top as one of the most successful professional ball clubs in the NBA. The Lakers tumultuous off season could give way to a reenergized supporting cast, hopefully providing the NBA's premier scorer with some much needed help.
Ticket sales for the los angeles lakers should bring each game to a sellout even without kobe there. It would be wise to buy your lakers tickets early in the season as the lakers are sure to make the playoffs once again.
Your Play Around the Green Can Make or Break Your Score. By Andrew Portela
Your Play Around the Green Can Make or Break Your Score. Home :: Sports & Recreations :: Sports By: Andrew Portela Print Article | Email Article Word Count: 453
It's by far the most crucial part of the game of golf. And it's known as the short game. Whether it's an approach shot, a chip shot, or a putt, if you don't have that part of you game dialed in, it's almost impossible to shoot a good score. The bad part is that the short game is the hardest part.
Approach shots are all about feel. No power is necessary. Just let the clubs do the work. One thing you should always do at the range is try hitting different shots with all your short irons. Lets say you take a full sand wedge and hit it roughly 100 to 110 yards. Start practicing taking a 75% shot. The reason for this is that you might need to hit a shot in between clubs. I carry a lob wedge, a sand wedge, and a pitch wedge. Lets say I have a shot roughly 85 yards. My sand wedge I can hit 110 to 120 which is too long and my lob I can hit 60 to 70 yards. In this case I would play a softer sand wedge because you have a less chance of messing up a shortend swing that! a swing that you are attempting to clobber the ball. Does this make sense?
Chipping is the most feared shot of the amatuer golfer. It very well should be. The number one reason why a player doesn't hit a good chip is not trusting the shot. Often amatuers get worried on their take away and decelerate on the follow through causing the ball to go no where or in the wrong direction. In order to hit a good chip shot you need to keep a good pace through the ball just like any other shot. To achieve this you need confidence in your shot, and that my friends comes with practice.
Putting is where games are won and lost. You should never expect to be shooting pars unless you can putt. General rule of thumb, if you hit the green in regulation you have 2 putts to make par. You have to be able to 2 putt in order to start shooting good scores. Most of your practice time should be spent on the green.
In the author box I am going to put a link to one! of my many books that will show you the secrets to shooting a! better score. Please stop in and join my free newsletter for some great tricks and tips that are going to help you shoot a lower score.

How Are My Seats at Wrigley Field? By Gary Ketchum
How Are My Seats at Wrigley Field? Home :: Sports & Recreations :: Sports By: Gary Ketchum Print Article | Email Article Word Count: 1323
Are you planning to attend a Chicago Cubs game anytime soon? Though just about any seat at Wrigley Field is a good one, here is a guide to help you in your decision. I will give each section a rating from 1 to 5 stars that will further gauge each location.
I. Upper Deck Seating
A. Includes sections 503-538
B. There are 9 rows total in the upper deck
C. Upper deck rating: 3 Stars
Compared to many Major League ballparks, Wrigley Field in one of the smallest which makes it's upper deck section not so bad. For starters, the prices for these seats are usually the cheapest, especially if you choose to sit in the far corners. As common sense would tell you, the closer you sit to the diamond, the better, so keep that in mind when deciding. The upper deck really gives you a Birdseye view of the entire field and every play is easily seen. The third base side of the upper deck has a good and bad aspect to it. The good aspe! ct is that a fan can keep cooler if the weather is warm and the breeze is coming off of Lake Michigan. You'll also get a view of the many sailboats as well. The bad aspect is if it's late in the season and the wind starts blowing in from the lake, those seats can become quite frigid. The entire upper deck has a canopy overhead so it does give relief on hot sunny days or during rain delays. Furthermore as with any canopy, there are support posts. Good thing is that these poles are smaller in diameter compared to the terrace reserve, and the obstruction isn't bad. As far as food and drinks, walking vendors are in abundance and if you need a break from the game, there is also a food patio court that is located in the upper deck that is behind home plate. You can view the downtown area from this patio and also purchase food and drinks here as well.
II. Upper Deck Box Seating
A. Includes section 401-437
B. There are 10 rows total in the upp! er deck box section
C. Upper deck box rating: 3 1/2! Stars
Upper deck box seating are closer to the field than upper deck. These seats are more expensive, and depending on the section and row, can be just as expensive as a terrace box. The best upper deck boxes are between the bases and 1st row is a real treat. These sections have access to numerous foul balls and give fans a close view of the press box. There are no overhead canopies for sun and wind protection, but that also means no obstructions! Fans sitting in these seats have the same access to food and beverage vendors as well.
III. Terrace Level Seating
A. Includes section 201-240
B. There are 23 rows in the terrace level section
C. Terrace level rating: 3 Stars
The terrace level section is considered field level and is located under both upper deck sections. Depending on the location, these seats usually cost the same as an upper deck box. The view is good from these seats especially in sections that are! between the bases. Even the highest row of the terrace offers a full view of the field, but you will miss pop-fly balls. A draw back of the terrace level sections is the obstructions. Any seat behind the 5th row may have a possibility of this, but there are remedies in place. TV monitors and scoreboards have been placed in various locations above the terrace seats to keep fans updated on the action. Though obstructions can be a problem in the terrace, there are many seats where there are no obstructions. Because may seats are not marked limited view, it is a good idea to inquire about obstructions before you obtain them. Like the upper deck seating, the terrace offers shelter from the hot sun and the rain delays, and food and beverage vendors are plentiful.
IV. Terrace Box Seating
A. Includes section 201-240
B. There are 5 Rows in the terrace box section
C. Terrace box rating: 3 1/2 Stars
The terrace box sections! consist of the first five rows of the terrace section. These! seats a re almost identical to upper deck box, in that the cost is usually the same, and the seats have a full view of Wrigley Field. You can expect to have a chance at foul balls, sunlight, and rain. The first row of the terrace box allows for some great people watching as well.
V. Field Box Seating
A. Includes section 110-134
B. There are 15 rows in the field box sections
C. Field box rating: 4 Stars
Field box sections are great. These seats can get expensive, but they are close to the action. Fans can expect to have full views of the entire field, sun, moon, and sky. These seats can get peppered with foul balls, so fans have to pay attention to the game. The sections between the bases are the best and during select Cubs games, these sections get a great view and throwback sound of a trumpet, trombone, and clarinet trio as well. The trio plays 1920's era melodies that remind you of how long Wrigley Field has been around. Of! course, there are plenty of food and beverage vendors as well.
VI. Club Box Seating
A. Includes section 3-36
B. There are 10 rows in the club box sections
C. Club box rating: 5 Stars
Club box seating are considered the cr? del a cr? sections at Wrigley Field. These sections command some of the most hefty prices but if you want to see the color of a Cubs player's eyes, than these are the seats for you. As with field boxes, these seats not only get peppered with foul balls, but with broken bats as well. Also, players always throw a baseball into the club sections behind the dugouts at the end of every inning, so be ready. Another aspect of the club sections are the Birdseye views of the bullpens. These sections are located down the line, directly in front of sections 7 and 8 for the Chicago Cubs, and sections 34 and 35 for the visiting team. These sections allow fans to watch pitchers warm up during the game. Agai! n, food and beverage vendors are everywhere.
VII. B! leachers
A. Includes all sections between foul poles
B. Bleachers are all General Admission bench seating
C. Bleacher rating: 3 to 5 Stars
Some people love the bleachers and some don't. If your in the mood to get a tan, get drunk, or check out some fellow scenery, then the bleachers are for you. Depending on who the Chicago Cubs are playing, the bleachers can get expensive, especially on Saturdays. These sections offer a great view of Wrigley Field but sometimes you can't follow the ball while it's in play. Of course a great aspect of the bleachers is the possibility of a home run ball. Careful though?, Cubs fans expect you to throw it back onto the field if the home run was hit by the opposing team.
So there you have it! There are an array of choices for seating to see the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Whether you sit high up, underneath, or close to the action, your sure to have a great time at the friendly confines! !

Muscle Coordination For Good Golf Swings By Sandra Stammberger
Muscle Coordination For Good Golf Swings Home :: Sports & Recreations :: Sports By: Sandra Stammberger Print Article | Email Article Word Count: 464
There are many ways to improving your golf game from going to a golf school, training under a professional instructor, and so on. But in the end true success is only going to come from diligently practicing what you learn. The old saying about practice making for perfection is so true when it comes to golf. Every golfer knows that one of the most frustrating things is for their game to go off. Playing bad golf can be seriously annoying. Even those players that undergo extensive training and years of practice often find themselves wishing that the efforts they have put in had yielded better results. There are very few golfers that are not constantly working with golf swing techniques to find that touch of perfection. You must always remember that there is a lot more to the game than just golf swing techniques. Your mind set and attitude, especially when you are on the course, will greatly determine the sort of game you play that day. Confidence is a paramount requirement ! in golf along with clear thinking and the ability to handle pressure. You must be positive in your approach and be sure of yourself that you are going to play a good game because that is what you always do. The most important thing to remember when practicing your golf swing techniques is to visualize where you wish the ball to land.Once you have hit the ball you have to go into the follow through. You should not think that hitting the ball is the end of the stroke. You must continue curving your body towards the left. The best way to practice golf swing techniques is to pick one particular spot on the course; this could be the fairway or the green, and then practice hitting the ball onto that spot. When you swing for the stroke then make sure to use the muscles in your trunk and legs.Getting into the habit of using good golf swing techniques is one of the most important things for an amateur or starting golfer. It is only by using the right technique will there be the sort! of improvement in the game that is so desirable. This is why ! every go lfer is working so hard on perfecting the golf swing. You must know that there are several muscles in your body that must work in perfect coordination to get the swing just right. Right from the hells up to the shoulder, neck, and head the muscles must move in rhythm throughout the swing if your shot is to go as expected.Muscle coordination is so important that even if you have the swing technique down pat you will not get the stroke right because your muscles are not working as they should.

Buffalo Bills Preview By Rich Stephenson
Buffalo Bills Preview Home :: Sports & Recreations :: Sports By: Rich Stephenson Print Article | Email Article Word Count: 658
Hopes were raised that better days were ahead for the Bills.
However, hopes have been raised before. The Bills have had a roller coaster existence ever since 2002, with great one season of promise followed by a season of disappointment. Unfortunately, there is as much uncertainty about 2007 as there was heading into the 2006 season.
That being said, there is quite a bit of young talent on the roster with wide receiver Lee Evans who is coming off from a breakout season. There is always quarterback J.P. Losman who has come a long way as well as strong safety Donte Whitner who headed last season's rookie class.
Losman, with his 10 completions of 40 plus yards last season shows, can make every throw with his incredibly strong right arm. He is a very talented athlete who usually avoids the pass rush, throws accurately on the move and scrambles for yards. Losman has also made great improvement in his technique and footwork and also is developing in! to a respected leader among the team. However, with all things considered, Losman is still a work in progress. He must learn to better recognize coverages and be careful not to lock on to one receiver.?He has been known to rush through his progressions at times and sometimes forces passes into coverage. Losman also must improve on short passes. Last year he completed 5-of-24 attempts on third-and-3 or less.
Another player to watch is running back Marshawn Lynch. In the past five years the Bills have not ranked in the top half in rushing. Hopefully this could change with the addition of Lynch considering his speed, power, and size. He rarely goes down on the first contact and can be very elusive in the open field. Compared to McGahee, Lynch has more versatility because he is effective in pass protection and can split outside as a receiver. Sharing carries with Lynch will be veteran player Anthony Thomas, how when given playing time last year was very productive.
There is also Larry Tripplett. The Bills lack size on th! e inside and as a result they struggle to stop power runs. However, the Bills hope to fix this with a deeper rotation. Triplett has proven to be the best of the group last season because he uses quickness and his hands to shed blocks.
And one cannot forget offensive line backer Paul Posluszny. Posluszny was a second round pick in 2007 and will hopefully soften the blow of losing Spikes and Flether-Baker. Posluszny works great for the Bills because of his quickness and athletic talents. He definitley has the range to make plays from all over the field. However, Posluszny covergaes skills will be quickly tested because the Bills need the middle backer to drop into the deep middle in their own Cover 2. Also, with Posluszny, last years weak side backer Angelo Crowell will now replace Spikes on the left side.
Despite the new talent on the team, the Bills have suffered a huge loss from their veteran core. Nate Clements, cornerback, and London Fletcher, middle linebacker,! left as free agents in the off season. Running back Willis McGahee and strong-side linebacker Takeo Spikes were traded as well.
One must remember that the Buffalo Bills have failed to make the playoffs for seven?years in a row. It will be very difficult for them to end that losing streak in 2007. The offense could be quite explosive, however, if Losman continues to improve and Lynch proves himself and the line gets better. If anything, the offense must improve for the mere fact that it has to take some pressure off a defense that has gotten younger but not necessarily better. Despite some good building blocks for the future, the team needs more time to grow and mature.

India tour of England By Prasanna Moorthy
India tour of England Home :: Sports & Recreations :: Sports By: Prasanna Moorthy Print Article | Email Article Word Count: 582
The tour of Indian team in England is the talk of the town in the recent days. With the mixture of experience and the vibrant young blood in the side the Indian team is quenching for its overseas victory after a long time. The recent series win of the Barmy Army over the Proteas has boosted their confidence level. This may be the last test for the veterans like the Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Anil kumble and skipper Rahul Dravid. While Dravid and Ganguly are a bit more rational about it, the Little Master is fairly nostalgic.Tendulkar with 37 centuries to his name till craves for that elusive one at the Mecca of Cricket - Lord's. Sourav Ganguly and skipper Rahul Dravid are back at the ground where they made their Test debut in 1996. A win is definitely what they want to start their English summer with. Lot of responsibility is now in the shoulders of Yuvraj Singh and M.S.Dhoni. They both are the backbone of the future Indian team. Dinesh Karthick has also impresse! d everyone with his consistent performance. The bowling attack has been prominent Seamers Zaheer, Sreesanth and RP Singh are collectively in a good pace.Anil kumble leads the spin attack from the front. He might be accompanied by Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh to provide vital break through. The medium pace attack of Sourav Ganguly will be handy.Fresh from a series win against the West Indies, England Captain Michael Vaughan reckons that his spin trump card Monty Panesar will be the secret weapon. The left-arm spinner, who has been making waves in recent times, took 23 wickets at an average of 18 in the recently concluded series against the West Indies and is ranked 6th on the ICC rankings for Test bowlers. The skipper is back to a wonderful form after a long rest because of injuries. His style and elegance is mind blowing. His comeback to the side has boosted the morale of the team. Despite thrashing the West Indies to a complete white wash, the skipper knows they are playing a! gainst a better opposition this summer.Kevin Pieterson will be! lethal weapon in the destruction of the inexperienced Indian bowling attack. When he steps in to the crease the willow acts like a magical band obeying the magician. He can threaten the opponents to such an extent that they would look totally clueless and they would just go through the emotions without actually having a definite game plan for the batsmen. Vice-captain Andrew Strauss can be a mighty opener if he starts staying in the crease. The left-handed opener is very strong in playing late shots as well as hook shots. He can cause the opponents drown into a precarious situation.England would definitely miss the ferocious attack of Trescothick.Without the main seamer Andrew Flint off, Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard it is definitely going to be a tough time of man management for the skipper.Keeping all the statistics in mind, the test match is still a wide open contest. The team which plays well on that particular day deserves the victory. A seven match One day series follows ! the three Test series and while India will no doubt be the overwhelming favourites for the limited overs version of the game.It is no real secret that the Test series is what will really separate the men from boys, because "Form is temporary, Class is permanent ".
